I am an ex New Yorker who still misses the vibrancy of the city. I seek out the humor in every day life and relay it through my stories in the hope others will appreciate as well. I love to write about growing up with my fantastically unique Irish mother whose memory inspires me every day. Although she is no longer with us, her antics are an endless staple for my tales. I currently live in Connecticut with my husband, two sons and toy fox terrier Anabel. View more posts
A beautiful Christmas sky.

I love how the colors of the sky work with the many colors in the bird – nice pairing – and left me kinda wondering with the “came no more…”

To find the answer to your question, please read my short story “Ode to a Pheasant” https://nynkblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/ode-to-a-pheasant/ Can’t say you will be entirely satisfied but gives you a bit more of an understanding. Thanks for nice comment!

How interesting to have a pheasant you can photograph! Best I can do is old people out walking in my condo complex during the early morning hours. And not many of them at that!!!

Well thank you! but the shot did not come easy. I lured the wild bird with a trail I created with bird seed and then success! heard the creature loudly crowing (in thanks no doubt) outside my bedroom window early one morning. I quickly grabbed the camera and hiding behind sill quickly snapped (pheasants are extremely skittish and also very wily). I wrote about the bird on my blog if you have the time and/or inclination “Ode to a Pheasant.” https://nynkblog.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/ode-to-a-pheasant/ Thanks for visiting and you never know what the older folks may do in a moment of whimsy. You may just get a perfect picture!

Thanks for stopping by this morning and liking my motion pic and poem about Summer’s Delights. Am relatively new to blogging and just took up poetry writing in February. Most enjoyable is the “return policy” that seems to resonate with bloggers. As in I’ve enjoyed meandering your site, discovered with your Like. Absolutely love the Christmas morn photo. Seems to be nature’s gift for the day!
At this “rejuvenatement” period in my life (see my About), it’s a real gift to sit with my morning coffee and find pleasures like these!

What a treat to have a pheasant visit you! We see an occasional wild turkey or grouse, but they are very shy.

With the proliferation of coyote and farming every last inch of land there are far less pheasant around. I miss their beauty.
